Marshall Z. Schwartz, MD, FACS, FRCS-Eng (Hon)
Marshall Z. Schwartz, MD was born in Minneapolis, MN. His undergraduate and medical school educations were obtained at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Schwartz completed his internship at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center and then returned to the University of Minnesota to complete his General Surgery Residency. He then moved to Boston to receive his Pediatric Surgery fellowship training at the Children’s Hospital-Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Schwartz has held leadership positions in Pediatric Surgery at several universities and teaching children’s hospitals including Chief of Pediatric surgery at the University of Texas and the University of California, Davis, as well as Surgeon-in-Chief at the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC. Currently, Dr. Schwartz is the Surgeon-in-Chief, Associate Program Director of the Pediatric Surgery Fellowship, and Director of the Pediatric Surgery Research Laboratory at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia and is Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics and Vice Chair, Department of Surgery at Drexel University College of Medicine. He is also Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics at Temple University.
Dr. Schwartz has had a long standing interest in basic science research. The focus of his research has been the role of certain growth factors in the management of intestinal failure. Dr. Schwartz initiated this hypothesis in 1975 and has contributed significantly to advancing this field to preclinical studies. This research and other academic activities have led to over 155 publications in peer reviewed journals, over 212 presentations at national and international meetings and 4 patents on specific intestinal growth factors.
Throughout his career Dr. Schwartz has been involved in national and international Surgery and Pediatric Surgery organizations. He is the past Chairman of the Pediatric Surgery Board and completed a 6 year term as a Director on the American Board of Surgery. He has extensive involvement in the American College of Surgeons which is the largest surgery association in the United States. He has been the Chairman of the Advisory Council for Pediatric Surgery and Chairman of the Advisory Council Chairs. In 2009 he was appointed to a 9 year term as one of 22 Regents of the American College of Surgeons which is the governing body of the College. In addition Dr. Schwartz serves on several committees for the American College of Surgeons and recently became the Chair of the Comprehensive Communications Committee. Dr. Schwartz has served as the President of the Pacific Association of Pediatric Surgeons and recently was awarded the Coe Medal for distinguished contributions to the field of Pediatric Surgery. He has held several leadership roles in the American Pediatric Surgical Association (the primary pediatric surgery academic association in the US) including being President-elect and President (2010-2011). Dr. Schwartz was elected to a 6 year term on the Surgery Residency Review Committee of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Recently, Dr. Schwartz was honored to be elected as an honorary fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Dr. Schwartz is involved on a national level in health policy issues and health care reform. He is a Senior Scholar in Health Policy at Thomas Jefferson University School of Population Health and is the Vice Chair of the American College of Surgeons Health Policy Advisory Group. He also serves on several boards including the American Pediatric Surgical Association Foundation Board, the Gift of Life Organ Procurement Board, and the St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children Board.
Dr. Schwartz maintains an active pediatric surgery practice and a productive basic science research laboratory. He is married and has two adult children and four grandchildren.
Leo Holt
Mr. Holt is a native of Philadelphia and has been active in the Port of Philadelphia business community and the food transport and distribution business for over twenty-five years. He is president of Holt Logistics Corp., which provides logistics management and related services to materials handling and transportation companies. His family’s efforts to grow the business of the Port of Philadelphia have affected the regional community for four generations and have positioned the Delaware River as the premier transport destination for many millions of tons of industrial and consumer products.
Mr. Holt maintains an active role in the regional and international community through business and personal commitment to a variety of organizations. He is the former chair of the board of the Jackson Laboratory of Bar Harbor, Maine, one of the world’s leading genetics and genomics research organizations www.jax.org and served for six years as a member of the USDA NAREEE Advisory Board, which advises the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture and the United States Congress on agriculture research science. He is a graduate of Villanova University, B.S. English Literature. He speaks Spanish as a second language and is conversant in Portuguese, French and German.
Brandon Hamilton, MBA, PMP
Brandon brings extensive experience in business development, sales operations, business operations, capture management, program management, government relations, business intelligence, and analytics.
Prior to his current role, he spent over a decade successfully growing some of the largest IT and professional services offerings available in government contracting, with a particular focus on Cloud, Cyber, Health IT, and professional services. He has a passion for building long-term business relationships, mentoring employees, leading cross-functional teams, conducting unique quantitative analysis, and engineering profitable growth.
Brandon is a former Naval Aviator, with Financial Management, Space Systems, and Public Affairs subspecialties. He has an MBA in Finance from the George Washington University and a BS in Quantitative Economics from the U.S. Naval Academy. He is a PMI certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and holds a certificate in Legislative Affairs from Georgetown University.
Gautam Bazaz, MBA
Gautam Bazaz is an experienced investor focusing on health, technology, and financial investments. He has supported entrepreneurs with every aspect of their business including concept and product development, investor presentations, fundraising and relationship development, operational and financial efficiency, and recapitalization and exits. His diverse professional experiences include management consulting at Booz & Co. / Booz Allen Hamilton, investment banking at JPMorgan Securities, corporate strategy and general management at Vanguard, and most recently he was a Portfolio Manager at a multi-billion-dollar family office running a $100M+ multi-asset class long-short fund. Gautam received his B.S. from Carnegie Mellon University and his MBA from Duke University.
Andy Crowne
Andy Crowne, Vice President Industry Solutions & InfoArchive, Dell EMC Enterprise Content Division (ECD), where he sets product strategy for Energy & Engineering, Life Sciences & Healthcare verticals and leads the InfoArchive platform strategy.
A Dell EMC veteran of 12 years and member of the ECD executive leadership team, Andy has dedicated the last 5 years to establishing a vertically orientated product organization from the ground up. The products designed and built by his team are aimed at solving very specific problems that we have seen repeatedly across many of our customers and have been sold and deployed on over 250 different occasions
Before EMC, Andy was a founding member of a successful ECM consulting business and has over 25 years of experience using technology advancements to build transformational products.
Andy graduated with a BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Leicester in 1987 and received the status of Chartered Engineer and Chartered IT Professional in 2004. He is a member of both the Engineering Council & British Computer Society.
He is based in Dell EMC offices in Pleasanton, California.
Leslie Broudo Mitts, PhD, MBA
Dr. Mitts led the largest entrepreneurship practicum at The Wharton School for over 10 years, where she currently serves as faculty.
In her private practice, Leslie’s expertise is in catalyzing early-stage companies with significant potential to create global social change.
Leslie earned her MBA in Management and Operations at The Wharton School and her Ph.D. in Social-Cultural Anthropology at the University of Pennsylvania.

As Vice President of Bio Medical City, Mr. Lee lead its international business developments in Asia and the USA. As General Manager of Asia Venture Partners, he interacted and associated with academic, research and medical institutions in the USA to advance into Asia especially in Korea. He received M.DIV at Reformed Seminary of Washington in 2015 and MIS and Business Administration focusing Human Resources at George Mason University in 1998. He is married to Eunice Lee and has a son, Ethan, and a daughter, Dyne.
