Ajay Raju
Ajay’s legal practice has a strong emphasis on structured finance and real estate capital markets transactions. Ajay also has a top reputation in a broad spectrum of other transactional areas, including mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, joint ventures, and cross-border strategic alliances. Recognized as one of the foremost authorities on issues arising from India’s emergence as a global power, Ajay is regularly called upon by leading multinational corporations to provide counsel on navigating the Indian market, and to act as a liaison and negotiator within India’s complex regulatory regime. Ajay was recently named by Lex Witness, a leading Indian journal of legal and corporate affairs, as one of India’s Top 50 power players shaping the country’s modern legal and business landscapes.
Ajay was appointed by Mayor Michael Nutter, in 2011, to the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Works, the region’s premier workforce development agency and the City’s fiscal agent for state and federal employment and training funds. Ajay also serves as chairman of The Center PAC, a federal and state non-partisan political action committee that supports policies and candidates who champion entrepreneurship, economic growth, and sustainable prosperity throughout the region. A sought-after thought leader, he appears as a regular on Inside Story, a Sunday-morning news and roundtable debate show which airs on ABC’s WPVI station serving the Greater Philadelphia market. Luiz G. Vieira, has been President and Managing Director of EMD Performance Materials Corp., the high-tech materials business of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, since January of 2015. Prior to this role, Luiz operated as the Vice President of the Performance Materials business sector from 2010 to 2014.
Luiz has been with Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany since 1990, with the exception of a one year internet venture from 2000-2001, whereupon his return he assumed business leadership roles. In his time with the organization, Luiz has played a dynamic role within several different departments ranging from quality control to sales and marketing, including a three and half year assignment as a Marketing Manager based at the company’s Darmstadt headquarters.
Today, Luiz serves on the Board of Governors and Executive Committee of North American Colored Pigments Manufactures Association (CPMA), Board of Trustees at The Franklin Institute of Philadelphia, serves as Chairman of several corporate boards, and is actively engaged as advisor to startup companies.
Luiz received a BA in Marketing WA-I from the IHK Darmstadt, Germany as well as concluded his chemistry studies at the University of Cincinnati. In addition, Luiz holds a Masters of Science in Management of Technology from the New York University Polytechnic Institute.
Luiz resides in southern New Jersey, and is the proud father of his three children Alexander, Victoria and Philip.
